The most common reason people hesitate about dental treatment abroad is not price and it is not quality. It is not knowing how much time off work to book.
You cannot request leave, arrange childcare or book flights on the basis of “about a week”. So here are real numbers, treatment by treatment, taken from how we actually schedule patients in Tirana.
Quick answer: Simple dental treatment in Tirana may take one to four days, while implant treatment normally requires two trips because the implant needs several months to integrate with the jawbone.

Why Implants Need Two Trips and Cosmetic Work Does Not
This comes down to biology rather than clinic policy.
An implant is a titanium fixture that must fuse with living bone before it can carry a permanent tooth. That process, osseointegration, takes three to four months. No clinic anywhere, at any price, can shorten it, because it is your bone doing the work rather than the dentist.
What a clinic can do, in the right conditions, is fit a fixed temporary bridge on the day of surgery so that you are never without teeth. That is immediate loading, and we cover it in detail in our same day implants guide. It is a very good thing. It is not the same as finishing treatment.
Crowns and veneers involve no bone healing at all. Preparation, impressions, laboratory fabrication and fitting can all happen inside one week because the laboratory is in the same building and the technician can walk upstairs to check a shade against your face.
What Happens on Each Day?
Single Implant
Trip one, two days. Day one: examination, CT scan, digital planning, implant surgery. Day two: review, aftercare instructions, medication check.
Trip two, three days, about four months later. Day one: implant uncovered, healing abutment, impressions taken. Day two: crown try in and shade check. Day three: final fit and bite adjustment.
All-on-4 or All-on-6
Trip one, four days. Day one: records, CT scan, digital planning, discussion of the plan. Day two: extractions if needed and implant placement. Day three: fixed provisional bridge fitted. Day four: review and bite adjustment, because a new bridge always needs refining once you have eaten on it.
Trip two, five days, about four months later. Day one: impressions. Day two: framework try in. Day three: aesthetic try in, where you approve the look before anything is finished. Day four: final fit. Day five: review and cleaning instructions.
Veneers, Six to Ten Units
Single trip, four days. Day one: records, photographs, digital design and trial mock up. Day two: preparation and temporary veneers. Day three: try in of the finished veneers. Day four: final bonding and polish.

Crowns
Single trip, three days. Day one: preparation and impressions. Day two: try in. Day three: final cementation and bite check.
Bone Graft or Sinus Lift
Two days, and then a healing period of four to nine months before implants can be placed into the grafted site. This is why grafting cases run longer overall and why an early X-ray matters, so nobody discovers the need for it after the flights are booked.
Booking Your Flights Around Dental Treatment
Two pieces of practical advice that come from watching patients get caught out.
Arrive with a day of slack if you can. A delayed flight on the morning of your first appointment compresses everything behind it.
Book your return flight for the evening after your final appointment day, not the same afternoon. Treatment days occasionally run long, a lab adjustment gets sent back, or a bite needs a second look.

Can You Sightsee Between Appointments?
Yes, and most patients do. Appointments usually take a few hours, not a full day, and Tirana is compact enough that you are back in the centre within fifteen minutes of leaving the clinic.

Combinations We Cannot Do Together
Two clinical rules affect trip planning and it is better to know them now than to build a plan around them.
- All-on-4 cannot be combined with veneers in the same arch. A full arch fixed bridge replaces the very teeth that veneers would have been bonded to. There is nothing left to veneer.
- All-on-4 cannot be combined with whitening in the same arch. There is no natural enamel left to whiten. The shade of the bridge is chosen at the design stage instead.
Everything else combines, and combining is precisely how you get the most value out of a single set of flights. A typical combined plan might be implants on one side, crowns on the other, a clean and whitening at the end of the trip.
Planning Dental Treatment Around Work and Family
The Two-Week Block
Some patients take one longer stay of eight to ten days and complete all cosmetic and restorative work in a single trip, then treat the second implant trip four months later as a short holiday.
The Long Weekend
Second trips for single implants are three days. Fly Thursday, treat Friday and Saturday, fly home Sunday. Many patients take no leave at all for this one.
The Family Trip
The second implant visit involves a few hours of clinic time across three to five days. Patients regularly bring a partner or family and treat it as a holiday in which somebody occasionally goes to the dentist.

How long do I need to stay in Albania for dental implants?
Two trips. Roughly two days for surgery, then roughly three days about four months later for the permanent crown. Full arch cases need around four days and then five days.
Can I get all my dental work done in one trip to Albania?
Crowns, veneers, whitening, cleaning, fillings and root canals can all be completed in a single trip of around a week. Implants cannot, because bone healing takes three to four months.
Do I have to take time off work twice for implants?
For the treatment itself, yes. Many patients schedule the second trip as a short break, since only a few hours a day are spent at the clinic.
What if I cannot come back exactly four months later?
The healing window is flexible by several months. Tell us your available dates and we will schedule around them. Coming back too early is the problem, not coming back a little late.
Are transfers and accommodation included?
Airport transfers are included. Accommodation is coordinated by the clinic, and free hotel stays are available on qualifying treatment plans.
Will I be without teeth at any point?
No. Temporary restorations are fitted at every stage, including on the day of full arch surgery, so you always leave the clinic with teeth.
How far in advance should I book?
